NICU Care Team
While in the NICU, your baby will be under the care of a specialized team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and other clinical staff, including nutritionists, therapists, pharmacists, etc.? The primary medical team includes:
Attending Neonatologist 每 Doctors who have completed specialized training in the care of sick newborns.? Attendings supervise the medical team taking care of babies in the NICU.
Resident 每 Doctors who are training to be pediatricians.
Nurse Practitioner 每 Advanced practice nurses with additional specialized training for providing care to sick newborns, including many tasks usually performed by a physician.
Fellow 每 Doctors who have completed pediatric training and are completing additional training to become neonatologists.
The care team ＆rounds＊ on all the babies in the NICU from 8:30 a.m. until approximately noon each day.? During this time, the team moves as a group from bedside to bedside, checking on the progress and making a plan of care for each baby.? You are welcome to be present at your baby＊s bedside during rounds.? We encourage you to participate in decisions regarding your baby＊s care.? If you cannot attend, the best time to receive an update on your baby is after these rounds have ended, between noon and 5:00 p.m.
